Personality[]
- Roarke described him as a casual sort of man; agreeable and smarter than a lot (of people) take him for.[4] A nice guy.[5]
- He said Ben (in regards to women) tends toward younger, career-oriented, athletic types who’d be happy kicking back with a beer.[6]
History[]
- Thomas Anders raised Ben after Ben’s mother was eaten by a shark while scuba diving off the coast of Madagascar (Ben was about six-years-old at the time).[1]
- When his mother died, he was living in New Orleans under the care of a nanny and numerous servants. She had been an adrenaline junkie and was thirty-five at the time of her death; she was twice divorced with only one child.[7]
- Ben said Thomas Anders was like a father to him. Anders applied for custody of Ben and when the biological father didn’t protest, custody was granted to Anders (he, apparently, paid off the father for five million).[8] Ben and Ava (before the murder) weren’t particularly close; they didn’t have anything in common besides Tommy.[9]
- He came into a nice chunk of change when he turned twenty-one, another portion at twenty-five, another at thirty. He has an MBA from Harvard, where he played baseball and lacrosse. He worked his way up in the company at Anders Worldwide.[10]
Interesting Facts[]
- He had played golf with Anders on Sunday and was planning on attending the Knicks game that Tuesday (the day of Anders’s murder).[11]
- When Anders was murdered, Ben was at home with Gatch Brooks; she had spent the night with him.[11]
- He said his uncle didn’t cheat on his wife, Ava.[12]
- Leopold Walsh is in love with Ben though Ben is unaware of Leopold’s feelings.[13]
- When Thomas Anders died, his fifty-five percent of the shares in the company would be divided between Ava and Benedict. Previously, Benedict had held fifteen percent and would receive forty percent.[14]
