Introduction[]
- First appears in Portrait in Death when he was called in to try to create an image of Gerald Stevenson.[4]
Description[]
- Pretty-faced;[5] young and what Peabody would have called a cutie.[6]
- Trina called Yancy 'Detective Hot Ass' and thinks he is "a yummy one" (when they worked on The Groom's image).[7]
- His mop of hair curled appealingly around his striking face.[8]
- He could pass for twenty-two or -three, Eve thought. Younger if he worked at it. Then his eyes opened, and she added another five years. The eyes knew too much for barely two decades.[8]
Personality[]
- He is personable and will 'chat up' and/or flirt with a witness if it might help put them at ease; it is part of his technique.[9]
On the Job[]
- According to Dallas, he's the best Ident artist in the city.[11]
- Yancy is Eve's favored artist.[12]
- He worked on an image for Dallas in Remember When[13] and in Visions in Death where he worked on the image with one of Roarke's image programs.[14]
- In Visions in Death, Eve directs the witnesses to John Blue's attack on Peabody to "Level Three, Section B, Identification Procedure."[15]
- He also aged John Massey's photo in Haunted in Death.[16]
Interesting Facts[]
- Yancy said that meditating for a few minutes clears his head.[17]
- In January 2061 Yancey starts dating Laurel Esty, who had been a witness in Brotherhood.[18] (She calls him Vince,[18] which is the first mention of his given name.)

- Yancy may have been promoted off-page, but he was called 'Officer' in Portrait in Death (August 8-15th, 2059),[19] appeared as 'Yancy' (still summer heading toward fall in Visions in Death),[20] and as 'Detective' in Survivor in Death (October, 2059; three weeks after Visions).[21]
