Bassi, Howard – (The Fixer)

Appears in Loyalty in Death; (February 2059)[1]

Personal InformationEdit

  • General Description: He was tough and sour.[2]
  • Age: 90

DescriptionEdit

  • Spry and took care of himself; he ate healthy and got regular sex.[3]
  • Skinny, grizzled, old, mean, with a bad attitude and magic hands.[4]
  • He hated cops, was greedy and paranoid.[5]

HistoryEdit

  • Retired Colonel (U.S. Army) – Enlisted in 1997, enrolled officer's training. Top scores. As a first lieutenant, he worked with STF – Special Training Forces (elite, real hush-hush stuff). He received several commendations and remarks about his expertise with electronics and explosives.[6]
  • He made captain in 2006 and was given a field promotion to full colonel during the Urban Wars. He was stationed in New York until his transfer to East Washington in 2021.[7]
  • He had a wife, Nancy (civilian), and two children (one of each) ages six and eight. They were all killed on September 25, 2023 when Apollo bombed the Pentagon.[8]

Homicide InformationEdit

  • His tongue was cut out with a serrated blade and his body fished out in New Jersey.[9]
  • He had lacerations and bruising at the back of the neck and no defensive wounds; indicating he was struck from behind and knocked unconscious before his tongue was removed. His hands and feet were strapped, then he was dumped in the river. Cause of death was drowning.[10]

Interesting FactsEdit

  • Brilliant with electronics (and able to change serial numbers) and told Ratso he was working on a job where he was building timers, remotes, little bugs and boomers.[11]
  • He realized he was involved in something very bad, was afraid of another Arlington, and needed to go under a while. Before he could get away, he was murdered.[12]
  • He had come through the Urban Wars and didn't scare easy. Rumor was he had his old army-issue blaster under the counter, and a hunting knife.[13]
  • Five or six years ago, Fixer worked on a little device for Roarke (a security probe); a very cleverly designed code breaker (Roarke designed most of it though Fixer had some interesting input).[14]
